Meaning
Water on the earth finds the low places and runs together, and the hexagram reads this as union: people gathering round a centre. Legge's Judgment turns the question back on the one at the centre, who should examine himself, as if by divination, to see whether his virtue is great and constant enough to be followed. Those who are restless will come; those who come too late fare badly. The Image has the ancient kings set up states and keep close to their princes.
Human Design puts the gate from 24°30′ Taurus to 0°07′30″ Gemini, in the Throat centre, which the system ties to expression and action. Its channel, Inspiration, runs to gate 1 in the G centre; the pair belongs to the Knowing circuit of the Individual group, so here an Individual channel meets a hexagram about the group.
The engine names the gate Contribution. With its hexagram, we read it in our own words as the voice that offers something made by one person to the many. The hexagram's own question is the useful part: before asking others to rally, ask whether what you bring is worth it. Joined to gate 1, the hexagram of pure initiative, the gate can be read as the step at which a private creation becomes a public one.
Opposite gate 8 on the wheel is gate 14, great possession, fire high in the sky. Union and abundance face each other across the circle, a contrast the wheel creates and the I Ching does not. The 1992 book of Ra Uru Hu's that set out this wheel is in copyright, and its descriptions of the gate stay in it; what we give here is the structure, which a Florence court held in 2020 may be freely described.

Gate 8 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 24°30′ Taurus to 0°07′30″ Gemini, the 21st gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 15 May to 21 May, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:

In a chart the gate is active when any of the 26 positions falls in it, and the channel Inspiration is defined only when gate 1 is active too, by either set.
When the Personality Sun is in this gate, the school's table names the cross by the angle of the profile: the Right Angle Cross of Contagion (8/14 | 30/29), the Juxtaposition Cross of Contribution (8/14 | 55/59) or the Left Angle Cross of Uncertainty (8/14 | 55/59). falseWhat the record shows: The wheel is Ra Uru Hu's arrangement: Shao Yong's 11th-century circle of the 64, rotated so that hexagram 41 starts at 2° Aquarius. No Chinese source ties a hexagram to degrees of the zodiac.

unverifiedWhat the record shows: The centre's name is a name. The schools' pairing of the centres with organs and glands, taken from the chakra books of the 1920s, has no physiological correspondence that anyone has shown, and we never read a gate or a centre as the body or its health.
