Meaning
Wind blows under heaven and reaches everywhere: the hexagram is meeting, the coming together of what was apart. Its single broken line enters at the bottom of a figure of whole lines, and the tradition reads that as something small arriving that will grow. Legge's Judgment speaks of a bold and strong woman, with the advice of its age about her. The Image is a ruler's: the sovereign sends his commands out to the four quarters, as the wind goes everywhere under the sky.
Human Design places gate 44 from 7°37′30″ to 13°15′ Scorpio, in the Spleen centre, which the system ties to instinct and intuition. Its channel, which the school names Surrender, runs to gate 26 in the Heart, the motor it ties to will; the pair is in the Ego circuit of the school's Tribal group.
The engine names the gate Alertness. With its hexagram, we read it in our own words as the instinct that notices what an encounter brings: the small thing at the bottom of the figure that will grow, seen early. The book's lines are full of things held or let go, a wallet of fish and a gourd sheltered under a medlar tree. Joined to gate 26, the great restraint, the gate can be read as sensing what a meeting holds and knowing what to keep from it.
Opposite gate 44 on the wheel is gate 24, the return, the figure turned upside down: one broken line arriving at the bottom faces one whole line returning. The school names the Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways from 44 and 24 with 33 and 19.

Gate 44 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 7°37′30″ to 13°15′ Scorpio, the 50th gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 31 October to 5 November, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:

falseWhat the record shows: The wheel is Ra Uru Hu's arrangement: Shao Yong's 11th-century circle of the 64, rotated so that hexagram 41 starts at 2° Aquarius. No Chinese source ties a hexagram to degrees of the zodiac.

The Spleen centre, where gate 44 sits, is an organ or gland, and the gate tells something about the body.
unverifiedWhat the record shows: The centre's name is a name. The schools' pairing of the centres with organs and glands, taken from the chakra books of the 1920s, has no physiological correspondence that anyone has shown, and we never read a gate or a centre as the body or its health.
