Meaning
The character 屯 shows a shoot pushing up through the soil, and the hexagram is about the moment before it breaks through. Thunder, movement, is below; water, danger and the rain cloud, is above. Legge's Judgment promises great progress all the same, but warns that nothing should be pushed forward lightly and advises appointing helpers. The Image is a storm still gathering, from which the superior man learns to sort out his affairs the way a weaver sorts the threads of warp and weft.
Human Design sets the gate from 26°22′30″ Aries to 2°00′ Taurus, in the Sacral centre, which the system ties to working and life-force energy and counts among its four motors. Its one channel, which the school names Mutation, runs down to gate 60 in the Root, the centre the system ties to pressure and drive. The pair belongs to the Knowing circuit of the Individual group.
The engine's name for the gate is Ordering, and the hexagram's own Image already reaches for that word: a tangle sorted thread by thread. We read the gate, in our own words, as the stage at which something new has started and has not yet found its shape, with the energy to keep going and the pressure, at the channel's other end, to let it change. The tradition is clear that this confusion is normal for a start and not a failure; it asks for persistence without force.
Opposite gate 3 on the wheel is gate 50, the cauldron, a hexagram that gives form to what is raw. The two together read like the two halves of making: the struggle to begin, and the vessel that holds the result. This is our observation about the figures, not a teaching of the school's, and the gate describes a position on a chart, never a person's fate.
