Meaning
Wind and thunder feed each other, and the hexagram is increase, the mirror of decrease: here what is above gives to what is below. Legge's Judgment says there will be advantage "in every movement which shall be undertaken", and that it will be advantageous even "to cross the great stream", the book's figure for a large undertaking. The Image is a lesson in self-correction: when the superior man sees good he moves towards it, and when he has faults he changes them.
Human Design places gate 42 from 20°45′ to 26°22′30″ Aries, in the Sacral centre, the motor the system ties to working and life-force energy. Its channel, which the school names Maturation, runs to gate 53 in the Root, the centre of pressure and drive in its terms; the pair is in the Sensing circuit of the Collective group.
The engine names the gate Growth. With its hexagram, we read it in our own words as increase that has to be carried through: energy that grows what has been started until it is complete. The tradition's increase is generous and active; its fifth line is sincere kindness that does not need to ask whether it will be thanked. Joined to gate 53, the hexagram of gradual progress, the goose moving step by step, the gate can be read as growth that comes in stages, each finished before the next is begun.
Opposite gate 42 on the wheel is gate 32, duration, and the school names the Right Angle Cross of Maya from 42 and 32 with 61 and 62. The I Ching's own pair for 42 is 41, decrease.

Gate 42 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 20°45′ to 26°22′30″ Aries, the 15th gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 10 April to 16 April, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:

falseWhat the record shows: The wheel is Ra Uru Hu's arrangement: Shao Yong's 11th-century circle of the 64, rotated so that hexagram 41 starts at 2° Aquarius. No Chinese source ties a hexagram to degrees of the zodiac.

The Sacral centre, where gate 42 sits, is an organ or gland, and the gate tells something about the body.
unverifiedWhat the record shows: The centre's name is a name. The schools' pairing of the centres with organs and glands, taken from the chakra books of the 1920s, has no physiological correspondence that anyone has shown, and we never read a gate or a centre as the body or its health.
