Meaning
Fire is below and earth above: the sun has gone down into the ground. The tradition reads the hexagram as light under threat, a good person in a dark time who keeps their brightness covered so that it survives. Legge's Judgment says it will be advantageous "to realise the difficulty (of the position), and maintain firm correctness". The Image draws a lesson about leadership in such a time: the superior man, among the people, keeps his intelligence veiled and is still clear-sighted.
Human Design places gate 36 from 22°37′30″ to 28°15′ Pisces, in the Solar Plexus centre, the motor the system ties to emotion. Its channel, which the school names Transitoriness, runs to gate 35 in the Throat; the pair is in the Sensing circuit of the Collective group.
The engine names the gate Crisis. With its hexagram, we read it in our own words as what strong feeling meets when it goes somewhere new: confusion, disappointment, the dark between one sunrise and the next. The hexagram is not despairing. It describes a way through, the light kept inside until it can come out again, and the commentary among the Wings sees King Wen and the Viscount of Ji in it, who came through a tyrant's reign by concealment. At the channel's other end gate 35 is the sun rising, the same figure turned over. The gate is a position in a chart; it describes no event in anyone's life and is not a warning.
Opposite gate 36 on the wheel is gate 6, the dispute. The school names the Right Angle Cross of Eden from 36 and 6 with 11 and 12.

Gate 36 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 22°37′30″ to 28°15′ Pisces, the 10th gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 13 March to 18 March, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:

When the Personality Sun is in this gate, the school's table names the cross by the angle of the profile: the Right Angle Cross of Eden (36/6 | 11/12), the Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis (36/6 | 10/15) or the Left Angle Cross of the Plane (36/6 | 10/15). falseWhat the record shows: The wheel is Ra Uru Hu's arrangement: Shao Yong's 11th-century circle of the 64, rotated so that hexagram 41 starts at 2° Aquarius. No Chinese source ties a hexagram to degrees of the zodiac.

The Solar Plexus centre, where gate 36 sits, is an organ or gland, and the gate tells something about the body.
unverifiedWhat the record shows: The centre's name is a name. The schools' pairing of the centres with organs and glands, taken from the chakra books of the 1920s, has no physiological correspondence that anyone has shown, and we never read a gate or a centre as the body or its health.
