How we write these pages

The pages on each system and on each of its placements (a ray, a gate, a hexagram, a card) are written by EsoTerrier from our own research, with AI assistance, and checked against the sources before they go up. This page says how, so you can judge them.

The research behind them

For every system we keep a research file: its history as a dated table, the method we compute, the variants we leave out, the claims people make about it and what the record shows, its stories, the evidence and criticism, its terms, and a record for every placement. Each statement in it carries the source it rests on, and each source is graded, from the primary texts and registers down to weak web pages, which we use only to say that a claim exists.

The pages are written from those files, not from other websites. Every fact on a page can be traced to a source or a claim in the file; we keep the references in the page's code rather than as footnotes, and list the sources at the foot of each page.

Sources and quotation

  • We write in our own words. We do not reword other writers' texts, and we never feed a modern author's text to an AI to rewrite it.
  • We quote only works in the public domain, briefly and credited. A book still in copyright is cited by author, title and page, never quoted.
  • Tables and facts (which planet a teacher assigned to which ray, which day a card falls on) are stated as facts, with their book and page.
  • Images are public domain, CC0 or marked with the Public Domain Mark only, from institutions that say so; each is credited under the picture, with its holder, date and licence, and we keep a record of where every file came from.
  • Sacred images are never used as decoration.

What the labels mean

Beside correspondences and claims you will see a small label. Sourced: it is in the work cited. Our construction: EsoTerrier made it, for example a colour we chose for a chart. Disputed: the sources disagree. On claims, false means the record contradicts it, unverified that no evidence supports it, and told as lore that it is a story of the tradition, not history.

How AI is used

Drafts are written with an AI model, working from our research files and the page's sources, under written rules: our own words, the tradition's views attributed to it, no forecasts of health, money or legal matters, and nothing stated as fact that the sources do not support. The draft is then checked against the research file, claim by claim: the facts, the titles, the descriptions, the image texts and the structured data. Pages are reviewed and published under the editorial responsibility of IT & Data Security LLC.

The readings in your account are a different thing: they are written for you by AI when you ask for them, and they say so.

Who edits them

IT & Data Security LLC edits and reviews what we publish. Who runs EsoTerrier is on the about page.

Dates

Each page shows when it was first published and when it was last revised. The revision date moves only when the content changes in substance, not when we fix a typo or change the layout.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, a missing source, or a statement you think goes beyond the evidence, write to support@esoterrier.com with the page's address. We check it against the research and correct the page, and its revision date, when we were wrong.
