Meaning
Fire over fire: the trigram of brightness doubled. The character 離 means both to cling and to part, and the tradition reads the hexagram as light that depends on what it holds to, as a flame on its fuel or the sun and moon on the sky. Legge's Judgment counsels correctness and adds an unexpected image: "Let (its subject) also nourish (a docility like that of) the cow, and there will be good fortune". The Image has the great man spread his brightness over the four quarters.
Human Design places gate 30 from 24°30′ Aquarius to 0°07′30″ Pisces, in the Solar Plexus centre, the motor the system ties to emotion. Its channel, which the school names Recognition, runs to gate 41 in the Root, the gate the wheel starts from; the pair is in the Sensing circuit of the Collective group.
The engine names the gate Recognition of Feelings; the Definitive Book, as the pyhd tables record it, titles it simply Feelings, one of the eight differences of substance between the two sets. We read the gate, in our own words, as feeling that burns bright and needs something to burn on, and the recognition of what that feeling is. The hexagram's cow is the counterweight. Fire is clear but restless, and the tradition advises a docile patience beside it. Joined to gate 41, the decrease, the gate can be read as intensity that comes from something held back first.
Opposite gate 30 on the wheel is gate 29, water doubled, also its pair in the book's order. The figure is about feeling and light.

Gate 30 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 24°30′ Aquarius to 0°07′30″ Pisces, the 5th gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 13 February to 18 February, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:
