Meaning
Two broken lines sit at the centre of the figure, with two whole lines above and below: an open middle, which the tradition reads as the empty heart that sincerity needs. The hexagram is inner trust, a truth felt at the centre that reaches even those who are hardest to reach. Legge's Judgment gives the example in a single line: it "(moves even) pigs and fish, and leads to good fortune". The Image speaks of judgments of law, which we leave to the text.
Human Design places gate 61 from 20°45′ to 26°22′30″ Capricorn, the 63rd on the wheel, in the Head centre, which the system ties to mental pressure and inspiration. Its channel, which the school names Awareness, runs to gate 24 in the Ajna; the pair is in the Knowing circuit of the Individual group.
The engine names the gate Inner Truth, which is also one of the common modern English names of the hexagram; on this page the words name the gate. The Definitive Book, as the pyhd tables record it, titles it Mystery, one of the eight differences of substance between the sets. We read the gate, in our own words, as the pressure to know what lies underneath: questions about why things are as they are, which do not let go until the answer feels true. The hexagram's empty centre is the image for it, room left open for the truth to arrive. Joined to gate 24, the return, the gate can be read as that question coming back to the mind until it can be thought through.
Opposite gate 61 on the wheel is gate 62, the small excess, which is also its inverse in the figure. The school names the Right Angle Cross of Maya from 61 and 62 with 32 and 42.

Gate 61 covers 5°37′30″ of the zodiac, from 20°45′ to 26°22′30″ Capricorn, the 63rd gate counting from gate 41. In 2026 the Sun passes through it from 11 January to 16 January, and within a day of those dates in other years. Each of its six lines covers 56′15″:

When the Personality Sun is in this gate, the school's table names the cross by the angle of the profile: the Right Angle Cross of Maya (61/62 | 32/42), the Juxtaposition Cross of Thinking (61/62 | 50/3) or the Left Angle Cross of Obscuration (61/62 | 50/3). falseWhat the record shows: The wheel is Ra Uru Hu's arrangement: Shao Yong's 11th-century circle of the 64, rotated so that hexagram 41 starts at 2° Aquarius. No Chinese source ties a hexagram to degrees of the zodiac.
