The image
A ship's gangway, a station platform or a border post, and people coming through it with bags, bundles and children. They have left one country and reached another, and this is the first hour of the rest of their lives there. The picture holds the moment of arrival: tiredness, hope, uncertainty, the unfamiliar street ahead. It is described as an image of arrival only.

Meaning
Read as a symbol, the arriving newcomers are about thresholds crossed for good. A visit can be undone; a new home is a commitment, and the image catches the moment it is made. Our keyword is "Arrival", and our keynote says newcomers cross into a place where they mean to stay. A placement here can be read as courage in beginning again, adaptability, and the double awareness of someone who carries one world inside while learning another. It can also be read from the side of the place that receives them, as a question about welcome.
The degree opposite is Gemini 23, a nest with three fledglings up among the branches, our "Sheltered growth". As a reading aid, the two pictures speak of homes: one already built and safe above the ground, where new life grows until it can fly, and one still to be made by people who have just landed.
For Lynda Hill, the degree that comes before Sagittarius 23, Sagittarius 22 with its family laundry, is its Karmic Condition, and the degree that follows, Sagittarius 24 with a bluebird on a doorstep, is its Quest Degree. Taken in order, patient work in an adopted place leads to the moment of arriving, and arriving to a small happiness waiting at the door.

A planet or point anywhere from Sagittarius 22°00′ up to, but not including, Sagittarius 23°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Sagittarius 22°22′ reads Sagittarius 23, and so does one at Sagittarius 22°57′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Sagittarius 24 after Sagittarius 22°59′, or back into Sagittarius 22 before Sagittarius 22°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. - Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
