The image
Leaves are falling everywhere, and one of them is noticed. Someone stops, picks it up, and finds in its colour, its veins or the moment of its falling something that speaks to them. The picture leaves the message unwritten. It is the reading itself that the image shows, a person treating the world as if it might have something to say.
The image was described by Elsie Wheeler and set down by Marc Edmund Jones in 1925. Our table carried a line almost in Rudhyar's 1973 words until 2026-10-10; the present wording is ours.
Meaning
Read as a symbol, the leaf is about noticing. Out of thousands, one is singled out, not because it is different but because someone is ready to see it. Our keyword is "A sign in nature", and our keynote says a single fallen leaf carries information for the one who notices it. A placement here can be read as a reflective, attentive turn of mind, one that reads the season in small things and draws meaning from ordinary signs. Its message is what the one who holds it makes of it, and the tradition reads the symbols in the same spirit.
Read the way Lynda Hill reads a chart, Libra 25 looks back to a Karmic Condition and forward to a Quest Degree. Here they are Libra 24, the butterfly that grows a third wing, and Libra 26, an eagle that turns into a white dove and back. The run goes from an unexpected gift, to a small sign held in the hand, to a change of form between power and peace.
Across the wheel is Aries 25, one promise that holds two, our "A twofold promise". Read beside it as an aid, both images are about meaning carried in a single small thing: one leaf, one pledge, each holding more than it first seems to.
In a chart
A planet or point anywhere from Libra 24°00′ up to, but not including, Libra 25°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Libra 24°36′ reads Libra 25, and so does one at Libra 24°58′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Libra 26 after Libra 24°59′, or back into Libra 24 before Libra 24°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. In EsoTerrier's Sabian chart the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant are read first, then the Midheaven and the planets; each placement in Libra 25 carries the image, keyword and keynote above, with Libra 24, Libra 26 and Aries 25 beside it.

- Dane Rudhyar (1973)
- Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.
- Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)
- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
- The Sabian Assembly
- Jones's own study group serves the 1953 image and keyword of a degree in its oracle, without commentary, on purpose.
