The image
A bowl of soapy water, a ring or a pipe, and a breath: the bubbles swell, catch the light in shifting colours, float off and burst. The children are not trying to keep them. Half the fun is the bursting, and the next bubble is already forming. The picture is light and bright, one of the most playful in this part of the set.
The image is one of those Elsie Wheeler described in 1925 and Marc Edmund Jones noted on his cards; until 2026-10-10 our table followed Rudhyar's 1973 wording for it closely, and our own line has replaced that.
Meaning
Read as a symbol, the soap bubble is the purest kind of fragile beauty: perfect, iridescent and gone in a second. Our keyword is "Fragile delight", and our keynote says beautiful, short-lived forms are made for the joy of making them. The image can be read as a reminder that not everything needs to last to be worth doing. A placement here might be seen in a love of improvisation, of passing moments, of things done for their own sake. Seen from the other side, it can also point to the effort of building what does not hold. The children do not seem troubled by that; they simply blow again.
Opposite this degree is Aries 13, a bomb that fails to go off, our "Force that fizzles", described there as an image only. As a reading aid the two pictures make a curious pair: a charge built to burst that does not, and a sphere of air built to burst that does, harmlessly and with delight.
Lynda Hill sets Libra 13 between its Karmic Condition, one degree back, and its Quest Degree, one degree on. Before Libra 13 are the miners of Libra 12, climbing up from long work underground; after it is Libra 14, a rest taken in the heat of noon. The run moves from labour, to play, to the pause that both of them need.

A planet or point anywhere from Libra 12°00′ up to, but not including, Libra 13°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Libra 12°12′ reads Libra 13, and so does one at Libra 12°58′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Libra 14 after Libra 12°59′, or back into Libra 12 before Libra 12°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. In EsoTerrier's Sabian chart the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant are read first, then the Midheaven and the planets; each placement in Libra 13 carries the image, keyword and keynote above, with Libra 12, Libra 14 and Aries 13 beside it.

- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
