The image
Night, a fire and the faces turned toward it: the picture needs nothing more. Around a campfire people sit closer than they would in daylight, the dark at their backs and the light between them. Whatever brought them there, the fire now gives them a centre and a reason to stay. The line does not say whether they are friends, travellers or strangers; the fire is what makes them a group.
Meaning
The campfire can be read as a shared light that no one owns. Each person feeds it a little and takes some warmth from it, and the circle exists only while they keep it going. Our keyword, "Shared inner warmth", and our keynote, that a small group finds unity around a light it tends together, put the weight on the tending: this is a fellowship made by common care rather than by rules. A placement here can be read as a feeling for small circles, for conversation at close range, and for the kind of belonging that comes from sitting in the same light.
Lynda Hill treats the degree just before Libra 4 as its Karmic Condition and the degree just after as its Quest Degree. The degree before this one is Libra 3, the dawn on which everything is different; the degree after is Libra 5, a teacher who speaks from what he has come to understand himself. Read across the three, a new day gives way to a gathering by the fire, and the gathering to the moment when one person speaks from inner understanding to the rest.

A planet or point anywhere from Libra 3°00′ up to, but not including, Libra 4°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Libra 3°39′ reads Libra 4, and so does one at Libra 3°58′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Libra 5 after Libra 3°59′, or back into Libra 3 before Libra 3°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree.
