The image

The picture is the moment after. A storm has just gone over, with its wind, rain and dark sky, and at once the sun is out: wet roofs shining, puddles bright, the air rinsed. The line gives no place and no people, only the turn from one sky to the other. The line our table showed here before October 2026 was not a Sabian image at all; sun after storm is this degree's own picture.

Meaning

The tradition reads its images as symbols, and this one is a symbol of the clearness that follows release. Our keyword is Clearing, and our keynote says that after the discharge comes clarity and relief. The image does not deny the storm. The sun is welcome precisely because the storm was real and has spent itself. One way to read a placement in this degree is as a temperament that clears quickly after strong feeling, the quarrel followed by warmth, the hard week followed by a bright morning, and as the gift of seeing more sharply in the light that comes after. It can also be read as the plain comfort that weather changes, and that a dark sky is not the last word.

Lynda Hill counts the degree before as background, her Karmic Condition, and the degree after as heading, her Quest Degree. The background here is Leo 15, a costumed pageant, a town's noisy display of itself; the heading is Leo 17, a church choir in everyday clothes, not robed. By her rule the excitement of the procession is followed by sunlight after storm, and the clear air opens onto ordinary people singing together without costume of any kind. The opposite degree, Aquarius 16, read beside it as an aid, is a captain of industry behind his desk: command held steadily through every kind of weather, beside a sky that simply clears when the storm is done.

A planet or point anywhere from Leo 15°00′ up to, but not including, Leo 16°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Leo 15°03′ reads Leo 16, and so does one at Leo 15°58′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Leo 17 after Leo 15°59′, or back into Leo 15 before Leo 15°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. Gives the degree a symbol line, a commentary, a one-word keyword and a positive and a negative reading. We quote none of it.

Dane Rudhyar (1973)

Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.

Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)

Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
