The image
This is an image of an idea rather than a place. A human soul, not any particular person, is waiting, and what it waits for is an opportunity to come out into expression, to be shown, spoken or made. The line gives no body, no setting and no time. Before October 2026 our own table carried the image of Capricorn 3 at this degree, a different picture of a soul, so the image of Leo 14 was missing from the product; this is the degree's own picture.
Meaning
The tradition reads degree images as symbols, and this one is almost a description of an inner state. Our keyword is Waiting to be expressed, and our keynote says that the inner life is ready and waits for its moment to show itself. The waiting is not empty. Something is there, complete enough to want out, and the question is only the opening. One way to read a placement in this degree is as a full inner life that has not yet found its outlet, a talent, a feeling or a truth held ready, and as the patience, or impatience, of waiting for the right moment and the right form. Another way to see it is as a reminder that some chances are made, not only waited for.
Lynda Hill gives every degree a Karmic Condition, the one before, and a Quest Degree, the one after, and reads them as its background and aim. The background here is Leo 13, an elderly ship's captain in his rocking chair, a life already expressed and now at rest; the aim is Leo 15, a pageant in costume. By her rule the quiet of the old captain gives way to a soul still waiting for its chance, and that waiting bursts out, in the next degree, into a whole community parading in costume. The opposite degree, Aquarius 14, read beside it as an aid, is a tunnel swallowing a passing train: a passage through the dark that leads out into light again, beside this degree's inner life waiting in the dark to come out.

A planet or point anywhere from Leo 13°00′ up to, but not including, Leo 14°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Leo 13°49′ reads Leo 14, and so does one at Leo 13°57′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Leo 15 after Leo 13°59′, or back into Leo 13 before Leo 13°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. - Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.
- Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)
- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
