Meaning
Reverse Reduction is the fourth of the ciphers the gematria websites open with. Take the backward count, Z 1 to A 26, and reduce every value to one digit: Z is 1, R is 9, Q starts again at 1, I is 9, H starts again, and A, whose backward place is 26, is 8. The result is a cipher of small values, like the Full Reduction, but cycling from the other end of the alphabet.
It has no source older than the calculators of the 2010s. We keep it in the core six only because every calculator shows it, and we say what it is: a mirror of a mirror.
How it is counted
GEMATRIA: G 2 + E 4 + M 5 + A 8 + T 7 + R 9 + I 9 + A 8 = 52; reduced to 7. ALPHABET: A 8 + L 6 + P 2 + H 1 + A 8 + B 7 + E 4 + T 7 = 43; reduced to 7.
With values no higher than 9, totals cluster tightly, and matches between words are even more frequent than under the ordinal. When the chart reports one, it says that the scripts differ and calls it what it is, a coincidence of numbers that no tradition draws.
What this page leaves out
Gematrinator lists further reductions with exceptions, which keep some letters at 11 or 22 in the manner of numerology's master numbers. We do not compute them; they add more totals and therefore more matches, and nothing else.
The four the sites open with
Gematrinator groups four ciphers as its starting set: the English Ordinal, the Full Reduction, and the backward versions of both. Two of the four are tables in their own right, the alphabet count and the numerology table; the other two are those tables read from Z. Most calculators copied the set, and our chart shows all four in its core tier for the same reason, so that any total a reader brings from elsewhere can be matched, while the labels say which two are mirrors.

Claims about it
-
This cipher goes back to antiquity or to a source older than the gematria websites.
falseWhat the record shows: It is a coinage of the online English-gematria community of the 2000s and 2010s; no older source was found.
-
Two words or names with the same value under this cipher are connected.
falseWhat the record shows: With values no higher than 9, totals under this cipher meet other words' values all the time. When the chart reports such a match across scripts, it calls it a coincidence of numbers, and no tradition reads it.
-
Totals under this cipher show that news events are planned by their numbers.
falseWhat the record shows: A search with dozens of ciphers and millions of phrases always finds a match; fact-checkers have shown it. Nothing on this site reads events, dates or news by number.
