Free Zi Wei Dou Shu chart

Your Zi Wei Dou Shu chart is laid out from your lunar birth date and double hour: counting from 寅 by the lunar month and back by the hour gives the Life Palace, its stem and branch give the chart's element bureau, and the lunar day with the bureau's number places Zi Wei, from which the other major stars follow at fixed steps.

Enter your birth date and time, and if you like the place and the chart's gender, to see your Zi Wei Dou Shu board: the twelve palaces from the Life Palace, the fourteen major stars with their brightness, the four transformations of your birth year, and the ten-year decade each palace holds.

About Zi Wei Dou Shu

Your Zi Wei Dou Shu chart is read from the Life Palace outward: born on 19 January 1989 at 19:17 in Ann Arbor, the twelfth day of the twelfth lunar month, the sample person has the Life Palace in 卯 and Zi Wei in 未, and each palace shows its major stars, the birth year's transformations and the decade it holds.

The method rests on the 紫微斗數全書, a Ming manual attributed to Chen Tuan and attested from 1581; every rule in it is arithmetic on calendar numbers.

How we compute it

The placement rules of the 紫微斗數全書, a Ming manual attributed to Chen Tuan: the lunar new year as the boundary, a leap month split at its 15th day, 23:00 counted as the next day, and clock time with daylight saving removed when the place is known. The decades run by the birth year and the chart's gender; without one, both directions are given.
