Free Luck Pillars chart

Your Luck Pillars are the eight ten-year pillars of your BaZi chart, stepped forward or backward from your month pillar, and the first starts at an age counted from your birth to the neighbouring 節 solar term, three days of life to a year. The direction follows the yin or yang of your birth year and the chart's sex, or your own choice.

About Luck Pillars

Your Luck Pillars are the ten-year periods of your BaZi chart, each a stem and branch stepped on from the month pillar: for 19 January 1989 the sample chart steps backward from 乙丑 to 甲子, 癸亥, 壬戌 and on, each named by its Ten God against the day master.

The direction follows the birth year's polarity and the chart's gender, the first pillar begins at an age counted from birth to a solar term, and the rule, with a worked example, is in the Ming manual 三命通會.

How we compute it

The rules of the Ming manual 三命通會: forward for a yang year with a male chart or a yin year with a female chart, backward otherwise, or the sequence you choose; the start counted from the birth to the neighbouring 節 term in the pillars' direction, three days of life to a year, never rounded. A birth place gives true solar time and its time zone; without one, the time is read in your device's time zone.
