Natal Chart (Tropical) · Free chart

Free natal chart

Your natal chart, or birth chart, is the sky at the minute and place of your birth: the sign each planet stood in, the sign rising in the east, and the twelve houses counted from it. The rising degree moves about a degree every four minutes, so the chart needs your birth time and place.

Enter your birth date, time and place to see your natal chart as a wheel: the Sun, the Moon and the planets in the tropical signs and the twelve houses, the degree rising in the east, the aspects between them, your big three and your chart ruler.

Your birth details

The local time where you were born, as on a long-form birth certificate. The chart is drawn for that minute.

About Natal Chart (Tropical)

Your natal chart is drawn for the minute and place you were born, as a wheel: for 19 January 1989 at 19:17 in Ann Arbor it puts Leo on the rising degree, the Sun in the last degree of Capricorn in the sixth house, the Moon in Cancer in the eleventh, and lines across the centre for the aspects.

The chart is Hellenistic, put together in Egypt in the last two centuries BCE and handed on through Arabic and Latin textbooks to the astrology of today.

How we compute it

Positions from NASA JPL's DE440s ephemeris through Skyfield; Placidus houses (Porphyry above the polar circles, where Placidus is undefined), with Whole Sign and Equal in the full chart; the true node; orbs of 10° with the Sun or the Moon in the pair (6° for a sextile, 3° for a quincunx), 8°, 4° and 2° otherwise. The houses and the rising degree come from the birth time, so the chart asks for it.
