Free Mayan day sign

Your Mayan day sign is your birth date's day in the 260-day count, a number from 1 to 13 with one of twenty named days, counted from the start of the Long Count by the Goodman-Martínez-Thompson correlation, 584283, which matches the count highland Maya daykeepers keep today. Many English calculators give Dreamspell's kin instead, a different count of 1990, so your chart names it beside the Maya day, labelled.

Enter your birth date to see your day in the 260-day count as the highland Maya daykeepers keep it: its number and day sign in K'iche' and in Yucatec, its place in the count, the five days of the nawal cross, the year bearer, the Haab' and the Long Count.

About Mayan Calendar

The Mayan calendar is a count of 260 days, thirteen numbers turning with twenty named days, and the day of a birth date in it is found by counting from the start of the Long Count with the Goodman-Martínez-Thompson correlation, 584283, the one that matches the count highland daykeepers keep. Born on 19 January 1989, the sample person's day is 3 Aq'ab'al, Ak'b'al in Yucatec, the dawn: the third day of the 260, shown with its number in bars and dots, the five days of the nawal cross around it, the bearer of the year, and the Haab' and Long Count of the same date.

The count is kept today by K'iche', Kaqchikel, Ixil, Q'anjob'al and other highland Maya daykeepers in Guatemala. Dreamspell, a modern count of 1990 that leads English searches for a Mayan sign, gives most dates a different name; the chart shows its kin once, labelled, so the two can be told apart.

How we compute it

Days counted from the Long Count's start with the Goodman-Martínez-Thompson correlation, 584283; the year bearer from the highland new year in February; the Haab' in the Classic alignment. A birth time and place add only a note for a birth after sunset, when some daykeepers count the next day. The Dreamspell kin of the date, from a different count of 1990, is named beside it for reference only.

This is the traditional count. Dreamspell, a modern calendar of 1990 and not the Maya count, gives Kin 56, Yellow Warrior, for this date; that is why other sites may show a different sign.

Under the 584285 correlation the same date would be 1 Imox.
