The image
A wide field, given a name, Ardath, is in bloom: flowers across the whole expanse, coming out together. The image names a particular place rather than any meadow, which gives it the feel of somewhere known from a story. Beyond the name, the picture is of open ground and abundance in flower. Marc Edmund Jones wrote the picture down in San Diego in 1925, as the clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler described Aquarius 30.
Meaning

A field in full flower is a picture of renewal after a long season. Because this one has a name, it reads less like nature and more like a place apart, somewhere one goes to see differently. We read the degree as an open space where a new understanding can come into bloom, a clearing in the mind as much as on the land. One way to see it is in times when a person steps away from routine and finds that the ideas they needed were ready to flower. The image can also be read as the sign's close: after the varied, sometimes difficult pictures of Aquarius, the last one is an open field. The tradition reads such pictures as descriptions, and this one carries no promise.
Lynda Hill places this image between a degree that sets its starting point and a degree that sets its purpose. The degree before is Aquarius 29, a butterfly working its way out of the chrysalis, transformation completed; here the field is ready for it. The degree after is Pisces 1, the stalls of an open market, where the private field of vision gives way to a busy public place of exchange.
The opposite degree, Leo 30, a letter left open, not sealed, can be read beside this one as a reading aid. Both pictures are of openness; the letter leaves its contents for anyone to read, while the field lies open for anyone who comes to it.

A planet or point anywhere from Aquarius 29°00′ up to, but not including, Aquarius 30°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Aquarius 29°41′ reads Aquarius 30, and so does one at Aquarius 29°59′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Pisces 1 after Aquarius 29°59′, or back into Aquarius 29 before Aquarius 29°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. - Dane Rudhyar (1973)
- Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.
- Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)
- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
