Meaning

晉 is to advance, to rise as the sun rises. Fire, brightness, stands above the earth, the trigram of the receptive: light coming up over everything and making it visible. The statement of the hexagram gives a scene from court: a prince who has brought peace is given horses in great numbers and received by the ruler three times in a day. The three bands

The Shadow band, Scurrying, is the fourth line, 晉如鼫鼠: advancing like a long-tailed rat, by snatches and out of sight. The Gift band, Brightening, is the Image, 君子以自昭明德: the sun comes up over the earth, and the noble person brightens their own clear virtue, making their good qualities plain. The Siddhi band, Equanimity, is the fifth line, 失得勿恤: do not take loss or gain to heart; going on brings good fortune.
