The image
Builders are at work on a bridge meant to span a ravine, a narrow, deep cut in the land. The bridge is not finished; the image shows it going up, with people, timber or steel, and the drop beneath. The ravine is nature's division, and the bridge is the human answer to it. Marc Edmund Jones wrote the picture down in San Diego in 1925, as the clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler described Taurus 6.
Meaning
Read as a symbol, the bridge joins what nature kept apart. It needs planning, skill and many hands, and when it is done two sides that could not reach each other can meet. Lynda Hill reads the degree before as the Karmic Condition and the degree after as the Quest Degree. Taurus 5, before it, is the widow at a freshly dug grave; Taurus 7, after it, is a Samaritan woman. By that rule a loss that divides one life from another is followed by work that joins two sides, and the joining leads to a meeting across a line of custom. The degree opposite, Scorpio 6, shows prospectors rushing to a gold strike; as a reading aid it sets a scramble for what lies in the ground beside careful work to cross over it.

A planet or point anywhere from Taurus 5°00′ up to, but not including, Taurus 6°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Taurus 5°23′ reads Taurus 6, and so does one at Taurus 5°59′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Taurus 7 after Taurus 5°59′, or back into Taurus 5 before Taurus 5°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree.
