The image
The picture is a set of steps, garden steps perhaps, rising to a level lawn where clover blooms. The steps are not steep and the place they lead to is open, soft and green. Clover is a plant of good pasture, and its flowers draw bees. Nothing hurries in the scene; it invites a slow climb and a pause at the top.
Meaning
As a symbol, the stairs stand for ordinary, steady progress, and the clover lawn for the ease and plenty such progress can lead to. There is no leap here and no struggle, only one step after another toward a pleasant level. Our keyword is Easy ascent, and our keynote reads it in one line: gradual, unforced steps bring one to a place of ease and plenty. The tradition would read a placement here as a place where patience pays in comfort, where a person reaches satisfaction by small stages, and where the reward is a place to stand in the sun rather than a peak to conquer.
After Lynda Hill, the degree before a placement is its Karmic Condition and the degree after its Quest Degree. Before Taurus 3 comes Taurus 2, the storm full of lightning; after it comes Taurus 4, a pot of gold beneath a rainbow. Read by her rule, the climb is the calm after a storm, and it leads to a picture of a promised reward at the end of the light. Opposite lies Scorpio 3, neighbours joining to raise a house; as a reading aid it sets building together beside this degree's quiet, solitary climb.

A planet or point anywhere from Taurus 2°00′ up to, but not including, Taurus 3°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Taurus 2°32′ reads Taurus 3, and so does one at Taurus 2°59′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Taurus 4 after Taurus 2°59′, or back into Taurus 2 before Taurus 2°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. - Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.
- Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)
- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
