The image
A window stands open and a sheer curtain swells into the room with the breeze. As it billows it curves into the shape of a cornucopia, the horn overflowing with fruit and grain in old paintings of abundance. Nothing is in the horn; the plenty is in the shape the moving air makes. The picture is domestic and fleeting, a few seconds of wind.
Meaning
As a symbol the image ties abundance to openness. The curtain does nothing itself; it is the open window that lets the air in, and the air that fills the cloth into a shape of plenty. Our keyword is Receptive abundance, and our keynote puts it in one line: when one opens to what comes in, it takes the form of plenty. In a chart the tradition would take a placement here as a place where receptiveness, hospitality or simple openness to circumstances lets good things arrive. The horn is empty and the picture knows it: what it shows is a shape, a readiness, not a store of goods.
Lynda Hill reads a degree with its Karmic Condition, the degree before, and its Quest Degree, the degree after. Aries 23, before it, is the woman carrying a veiled and precious burden; Aries 25, after it, is one promise that holds two. By her reading, something heavy and hidden gives way to an open window and moving air, and the openness leads to a promise with more than one meaning. Opposite is Libra 24, a butterfly that grows an extra wing, a third, on the left; as a reading aid it sets an unusual gift that is grown beside this degree's gift that simply comes in.
In a chart
A planet or point anywhere from Aries 23°00′ up to, but not including, Aries 24°00′ takes this degree. The rule is to count the degree a position is in from one, so a Moon at Aries 23°59′ reads Aries 24, and so does one at Aries 23°59′. Close to either edge, a small change in the birth time or the ephemeris moves a placement into the next image: into Aries 25 after Aries 23°59′, or back into Aries 23 before Aries 23°00′. That is why the chart shows the minute beside the degree. - Rewords the image and adds a keynote and a commentary of his own, numbering the degrees as Jones did. In copyright to 2068; not used, and the place he gives the degree in his own structure is not shown.
- Lynda Hill (1995, 2004)
- Uses the symbols as an oracle, with her own commentary, and reads each degree beside the one before and the one after. Her rule and her two names are cited here; her text is not used.
