Life Path 9 in numerology: the Humanitarian

Life Path 9, which we call the Humanitarian, is one of the twelve Life Path numbers drawn from a birth date, and the modern school reads it as compassion, breadth and completion. It is reached when the reduced month, day and year add up to 9, 18, 27, 36 or 45, on about 11.1 percent of the days from 1900 to 2099.

Meaning

The modern school reads the Life Path 9 as completion and breadth: compassion on a wide scale, idealism, generosity, and the endings that let other things begin. Selflessness, vision and artistry are the gifts it names; disappointment with the real world, difficulty letting go and giving more than it keeps are the difficulties. Decoz's 9 is idealistic and sees the big picture. Cheiro's people born on the 9th, 18th and 27th are different again, fighters with grit and a quick temper.

Agrippa dedicates nine to the nine Muses and the nine moving spheres, and makes it the last number before ten returns to one. The modern idea of the 9 as an ending comes from the same arithmetic: add 9 to any number, reduce, and you get the number back.

How the number is reached

Five sums reach the 9: 9, 18, 27, 36 and 45. A total of 9 comes on dates such as 3 January 1985 (1 + 3 + 5 = 9); 27 can need two 11s, as on 11 November 1985 (11 + 11 + 5 = 27); 45 needs a 22 in the year, as on 22 January 1993 (1 + 22 + 22 = 45). From 1900 to 2099 the 9 falls to 8,116 days in 73,049, 11.11 percent; from 1926 to 2025, to 4,058 in 36,525, also 11.11 percent. No karmic debt reduces to 9.

Nine is also the number no letter carries on Cheiro's Chaldean table. Cheiro explained the gap as reverence for the nine-lettered name of God; the plainer reason is that his values are Hebrew letter values reduced to one digit, and the two Hebrew letters worth 9 and 90 have no single Roman equivalent. A name that totals 9 on his table is read in the usual way.

The planet line, as history

Agrippa's remainder rule gives Mars to nine, and Heydon, Sepharial and Cheiro kept it; Agrippa's chapter on the numbers of the gods also gives nine to the Moon and to Mars. Cheiro's fighting 9 follows from his planet. The Life Path has no planet in any of these books, and we attach none.
